Torture is still happening, says Lt. General Ricardo Sanchez of black sites around the world that the Obama administration has yet to close down. Sanchez was the highest-ranking Latino in the U.S. Army when he retired in 2006, after having been commander of ground forces in Iraq during a critical period of the war--and during the period when abuses at Abu Ghraib occurred. Since his retirement, he has called for a truth commission to investigate torture, and, he says, "Americans need to face up to" what happened there.

Lt. General Sanchez joins Laura in studio to discuss the ongoing debates over torture, the serious questions facing military officers in the field, and the unwillingness of Obama to look back over the conduct of the Iraq war. He was in New York to be a panelist at the Culture Project's "Blueprint for Accountability," and we bring you video from that event featuring Mariska Hargitay.

torture and terror was

torture and terror was preached and taught at the School of the Americas, think of the irony of the School name, it is practiced now by the military in Honduras, Colombia ,to name a few; the moral ground that the American Government manipulates to name and shame other countries that do not follow its commands as Human Rights violators its the biggest lie and hypocrisy so far exposed by decent americans.

Indeed, wir Haben SCHULD,

Indeed, wir Haben SCHULD, and not only of the Americas!

The statements of this

The statements of this retired General look an awful like controlled "opposition" and evil, disingenuous propaganda to me. Propaganda to get Americans to condone torture, that is. I think what the General is really saying is that, 'We have to (supposedly) ACCEPT that we torture people (past AND present tense)'. APPALLING!

Remember, this guy is a warmonger, and he allowed the torture to continue "on his watch", while he was stationed and "commander of ground forces in Iraq". He also wants a "truth commission" much like was held in South Africa, in and as a result of which, they get human rights violators to say "they're sorry", and no one is prosecuted or held accountable, for it. DISGUSTING!

So, should ANYONE trust the double-speak of this mass-murderer, and this traitor to this country; to the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights; to other U.S. anti- torture and war crimes law(s); to the Uniform Code of Military Justice not to obey illegal orders and to completely stand up against them (even if it gets you "early-retired", court-martialed or murdered); to the people of the world; and to international human rights law(s)? NO FRIGGING WAY!

A "truth commission", and even calling for nothing but same, is in itself obstruction of (true) justice (ever being had)! UNACCEPTABLE!...

...This General is part of

...This General is part of the "damage control" to distract the majority of the American people away from True Accountability; from True Justice being had in this matter; and from the perpetra(i)tors being convicted and locked up, for life, in prison, without ANY possibility of parole, for the horrendous mass-crimes they committed, including many murders as the result of torture! HELL NO!

For God's sake, this General is one of the mass-murderous criminals who himself should be locked up for the rest of his life! He's a war criminal! PROSECUTE AND CONVICT HIM FOR IT!

So, don't be fooled by all this "damage control" propaganda! Don't let them be successful in distracting you, and/or in getting you to accept the absence of accountability! STAND UP FOR ALL OF THESE CRIMINALS BEING HELD TRULY, FULLY AND COMPLETELY ACCOUNTABLE!

God help us if we don't hold these mass-war-criminals completely accountable; because, if we don't, it will open the door to more and more and more such crimes, as it already has, and will lead to those crimes being carried out against more and more and more American citizens! "GIVE ME (TRUE) LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH (BECAUSE THIS COUNTRY AND WORLD AREN'T WORTH LIVING IN IF WE DON'T HAVE TRUE LIBERTY)!"
