Wallowing in Bloody Destruction

Senator Mitch McConnell and Representatives John Boehner and Eric Cantor.

In this illustration, Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell and Reps. John Boehner and Eric Cantor are standing in the bloody human, economic and social destruction their party caused during the reckless Bush reign. It lingers because these men stand in the way of relief to the middle class, which they bled for militant corporatistic ventures with a straight face.

That is only HALF THE STORY as usual.... that is one way people who want to spread lies do it.
The Glass-Steagall Act was rescinded by the Gramm-Leach-Bilely Act.
President Clinton at least admitted he got bad advice on regulating the complex financial instruments known as derivatives from his former Treasury Secretaries, Robert Rubin and Larry Summers.

Remember that Republicans

Remember that Republicans were the majority at the time. The bill that ultimately repealed the Act (after years of the banking industry trying to remove it) was introduced in the Senate by Phil Gramm (Republican from Texas) and in the House by Jim Leach (R-Iowa) in 1999. The bills passed by a Republican majority, basically following party lines by a 54-44 vote in the Senate and by a bi-partisan 343-86 vote in the House.

If anything this seems like a vote by the rich to open up an " improved" way to gamble with other people's money....a win/win situation for the right folks with the inside track. (and in that respect it seems to have worked for the wealthy/powerful and well connected at least)

Thanks, DJM, for precise accuracy. Typical "anonymous" posters concerned about bashers of Republicrats and their blue dog fake populists need to be 'out of here' where they are unburdened by both facts and morals.
