I have read the first

I have read the first chapter and passed it on to some of my Right Wing friends/fanatics. I haven't heard back from them yet. How can they argue with the success of history. The truth is they can't, I'm sure they will come back with something about this is Left Wing bull. Most won't come back with anything. I tried to soften it with look past the partisan politics of the article and understand how we got to where we are today. The truth is the same for both sides. I think this article is GREAT and am looking forward to the next chapter. I wish I could get our president to read this. I have posted it on FB twice and non of the usual right wingers have had the strength to reply. Please continue to post this. The more people that read this the more I hope and pray that it will make people aware of how badly they hurt this country in the mid terms. I'm with you all the way Thanks.

Truthout deserve to feel a sense of pride. What a wonderful service. Hope is pays off with increased donations and wider distribution.

Thom Hartmann once again proves he walks the talk. What a terrific public service. I forwarded the links to the first 2 offering to about 150 on my e-mail list, with links on how to listen to his radio & TV show. I urge others to do the same.

Thom's the history teacher and political mentor I wish I had had years ago.

I thought it was the massive

I thought it was the massive increase in spending from the war that we got out of The Great Depression.

Anybody have information on this?

My right wing cousin and I

My right wing cousin and I have agreed to explore each other's sources. He will read this, I will read a Glenn Beck book. Compare, contrast, discuss. He's had to admit, so far, that Thom has good data, good conclusions.

Here is a thought. American

Here is a thought. American industry and their government toadies supported free trade knowing full well it would eventually lead to recession or even depression of the domestic American economy through the impoverishment of the American working and middle class therefore creating the social and political conditions at home which would lead to it's triumphant return to American soils and a "new" commitment to protectionism. The goal was the destruction of the American workers unions and the eventual acceptance of third world wages BY AND FOR THE FORMERLY UNIONIZED AMERICAN WORKER. It is called "long range thinking" or "planning for the future". When American industry returns to this new political landscape it will be welcomed with open arms by the American people who will not care that it was the same companies that impoverished them so thankful they will be to once again have a job at any salary. not coincidentally this return will coincide with the impoverishment of the countries they leave behind, who will loose all the jobs created by American multinationals, making the American economy all the richer in comparison. IT WAS ALL PARTY OF THE PLAN FOLKS.

The goal was the destruction of the American workers unions and the eventual acceptance of third world wages BY AND FOR THE FORMERLY UNIONIZED AMERICAN WORKER. It is called "long range thinking" or "planning for the future" in common parlance. Where is this week's chapter? I've been looking forward to it and it hasn't been posted yet.

YEAH! I'm with David, where

YEAH! I'm with David, where is this week's chapter?!?

If the rest of the book is

If the rest of the book is anything like the first few chapters, I'm buying. Hopefully there's a local indy bookstore offering it heh.

Something I'm not sure is caught here--the chapter on small business just by itself has great possibilities for spanning the political spectrum in appeal. Many conservatives tout strengthening small business and keeping our business local. Like being good citizens in staying abreast on the specifics of how we're governed though, doing that effectively takes work...not only does keeping your business local require a little research, fully realizing it means giving your business to those that don't turn around themselves and give it to large corporations. As precious as time is socially these days, the more time we invest in things like that the more powerful our voice becomes.

I listen to Thom on the

I listen to Thom on the internet daily. I agree with 95% of his ideas. One of the main problems in America is the selfish greed that many people have. They will not give up their BMW's in order to have a more balanced economy where most people enjoy a decent way of life. Until the "me only" disease is cured and the financial institutions are sensibly re-regulated, I fear that we are faced with anarchy, probably within 5 years or less.
